Nepal-Pakistan Friendship Cricket Tournament kicks off

The Sixth Annual “Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament 2021” has kicked off in Kathmandu amidst a function on Friday. Bidya Sunder Shakya, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan inaugurated the tournament as a chief guest. Addressing the inaugural ceremony Mayor Shakya highlighted the potential of cricket and sports in bringing the youth of two countries, together. He appreciated the Embassy’s initiative for organizing this annual event.

Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador of Pakistan, Syed Haider Shah expressed his satisfaction with the growing popularity of this annual event among Nepali Youths. He emphasized on the importance of sports for a healthy society, particularly as the world grapples with a pandemic. He thanked the Mayor and the Nepal government for all their support in organizing this event.

 

The Tournament is scheduled to conclude on 14th March 2021.  A total of twelve teams have been participating in the ten-day event. The tournament has been organizing for last six- year in order to strengthen bilateral relations.
