Chengdu Universiad has provided special services

Ramesh Hatuwali, Chengdu, China, 07 August, 2023 Monday/The FISU World University Games Summer is being held in a in Chengdu City, the headquarters of Sichuan Province of China. More than 400 journalists from more than 100 countries and regions (actually data will come soon) have been gathering news from Chhandu city. The 31st summer’s Fisu Game was inaugurated by Chinese President Xi Jinping amidst grand functions on 28th August.

The World University Games Organizing Committee has provided special services and facilities to journalists from different countries of the world who have come to Chengdu for news covering. As soon as they land at Tianfu International Airport (TFU) in Chengdu, the journalists welcome by the volunteers with a smiling face. To ensure that they do not face any problem, state-of-the-art buses have been provided free of cost from the airport to the hotel.

Volunteers are serving round the clock to ensure that there is no problem in these buses. Various arrangements have been made so that journalists do not face any problem after the buses take them to the hotel. For example, skilled volunteers have been arranged to communicate in English language. There is no problem in the language to communicate.

Books, brochures and newspapers have been provided to the journalists to inform about Chengdu city and sports. Not only this, umbrellas and raincoats have also been provided free of cost to protect them from water and sun.

Transportation  facilities

Journalists from China and foreign countries have been provided free and honorable vehicles in the transportation vehicles in Chengdu city. There is a provision of modern buses every 30/30 minutes to go to the Main Media Center from the hotel and from the hotel to the stadium. These buses operate from 5 AM to 12 PM. At least 2 to 4 volunteers have been deployed in each bus. Drinking water, umbrellas and raincoats have been arranged in such buses.

Underground rail service (Chengdu Metro)

Special identity cards have been arranged for journalists so that they do not face any problem in coming to other areas including news agency or different market. Since the underground railway stations are very crowded, there are separate entrances and outdoor gates for journalists. Railway service employees are providing services to journalists carrying special identity cards without delaying even a second. On the other hand, such underground trains are also provided free of cost to journalists.

Well-equipped  media centre

A large and well-equipped media centre with air-conditioning has been set up to ensure that journalists do not face problems in matters such as news compilation and news transmission. Arrangements have been made to hold press conferences on a daily basis at the media center. Two special rooms have been set up for the press conference. Similarly, a newsroom has been set up to accommodate around 700 journalists.  Fast Internet service has been set up in these news rooms. You can’t help thanking the Chinese government for providing such an important facility.

Proper management of lunch

Arrangements have been made for free fruits including apples, oranges, pears, bananas and other delicious and healthy fruits for anyone including journalists working in the media center. Apart from this, proper arrangements have been made for bread, various types of biscuits, cakes, dry fruits, coffee and drinking water. Such a system has been highly valued by the media persons.

20,000 volunteers

The organizing committee has arranged 20,000 healthy and energetic volunteers to conduct the FISU games in a grand manner. The volunteers are working round the clock to ensure that journalists, guests and athletes do not face any problem. From the airport to hotels, media centers and stadiums, they are helping. ‘It is not possible to mobilize so many volunteers in other countries.’ FISU Secretary General-CEO Eric Saintrond says. Journalists from different countries and regions have given different responses regarding the facilities provided to journalists by the Sports Organizing Committee and the Chinese government.

Other facilities

There is enough space, live matches updates, photo and video editing facilities, Money Exchange facilities, Emergency Medical Services.

Unlimited free media tours

Muhammad Shafique, a journalist of Pakistan’s official news agency APP, who reached Chandu for news reporting, says that the services and facilities provided by the Sports Organizing Committee for journalists are of the highest level. It is very easy to work here. There is no problem. Google, Face book, YouTube can be used easily and news can be posted, viewed and sent.

Journalist Prakash Babu Paudel, who has reached Chengdu for reporting from Nepal-based Ray Television HD, says that the Chinese government has provided significant support for gathering and communicating news about sports. It was not common to be able to use YouTube, Google and Face book in China. But these have become normal now. Many facilities are available here for journalists. There is no problem. Journalists are well taken care of here which has made it easier for them to collect and communicate news as quickly as possible.

Alexander Bushroe, an American journalist working in Shanghai Daily, says that the services and facilities provided by the Sports Organizing Committee to foreign and domestic journalists are amazing. We have no problem sitting and working in the media center. We have been able to use the facilities here.  Indeed, this is a matter of happiness.
