President Xi Jinping declared the opening of 31st FISU World University Games

Ramesh Hatuwali, Chengdu, China, 2023 July 28 Friday/ President Xi Jinping declared the opening of 31st FISU World University Games at Dong’an Lake Sports Park Stadium in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province, China.

Huai Jinpeng, president of the organizing committee of the FISU World University Game, Chengdu, extended warm welcome to athletes, coaches, technical officials and guests from around the world, saying that “the FISU World University Games is a global sporting event for youth and friendship, and we have made elaborate preparations, aiming to deliver a streamlined, safe and splendid Games.”

The Acting President of FISU World University Game, Leonz Eder, gave a grand welcome to the more than 40,000 spectators participating in the opening ceremony, clapping and clapping as the players from different countries marched past waving their country’s flags.

While addressing the ceremony, Leonz Eder wished the great success of this sport and said that the people of Chengdu have welcomed the guests and friends from all over the world with an open heart. He also said that the great hospitality of the people of Chengdu exposed the glorious culture of China.

He said, today, the eyes of the world are focused on China, especially on Chengdu. Young students from all over the world came to Chengdu and participing in this grand ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, he expressed his belief that the joint efforts of the youth will lead to a happy and bright future tomorrow. Now let’s wish our community and everyone a beautiful future built by the youth, he said while addressing the ceremony.

He mentioned that due to the great support and kind care given by the President of China Xi Jinping, we have been able to prepare for the FISU Games on time and safely. President Xi’s participation has made us enthusiastic.

The Iranian sport TV journalist Mr. Hossein Rezaei said that he felt proud to be able to participate in such a grand event for the first time in his life. He said that China’s unprecedented development in the field of sports is exemplary for his country and the whole world.

The President of FISU University Game Association of Nepal, who led the participating athletes from Nepal in the program. Mr. Purnasingh Bohra, said China has made an outstanding and surprising development in the field of sports as they are doing in the field of science, technology, economy, agriculture, education and health.

He said that Nepali players participating in these games will get to know each other and develop friendly relations with China and other countries athletes.

The FISU World University Game schedule to held from 28th July to 8th August 2023 in Chengdu. There are 6,500 athletes from 113 countries and regions are competing in 269 events across 18 sports. Among of them 15 are compulsory sports, the Chengdu Universiade also features three optional sports – rowing, shooting and Wushu. Host nation China has sent 411 athletes to compete in all 18 sports. And the age limit of the game is 27 however it was previously it was 25.

The opening ceremony was concluded after outstanding Gala performances by Chinese singers and artists, March Pass of athletes with their national flags and lightning of the FISU World University Game torch light.
