NCCFA highlights the need to implement BRI

Kathmandu, 25 March 2022 Friday Nepal-China Commerce Friendship Association has urged to implement the BRI project as soon as possible. NCCFA has issued a press statement on Friday on the occasion of an official visit of the foreign minister of China Wang Yi to Nepal  and heighted the need to strengthen bilateral trade and development relations issues during the Nepal visit of Chinese minister.

At the invitation of Nepal’s Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi is arriving in Kathmandu today on a three-day visit to Nepal. ‘We warmly welcome Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Nepal. We wish that his visit would take the relations between the two countries to new heights’, statement reads. Nepal-China relations have been cordial and strong since ancient times. The relationship between Nepal and China, which has been linked by the great Chinese monks Manjushri, Fa San, Swan Chang, Nepali scholar Buddha Bhadra, Nepali princess Bhrikuti and the great Nepali artist Araniko, has become more and more cordial in recent days.

The global outbreak of the corona virus, which started in late 2019, has affected the entire world. Nepal and the Chinese people were also badly affected by the pandemic. Both countries worked together to fight this pandemic and to control it. In particular, China has provided various medical equipment and vaccines to Nepal. Statement issued by Durga Bahadur Shrestha, chairman of the NCCFA reads,’ We always expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese government and Chinese people for this’. Nepal’s major trade ports with China Tatopani and Rasuwagadhi have been closed due to the Corona pandemic. Thousands of business person in the area have been badly affected by the non-operation of these checkpoints. The non-operation of these checkpoints has also had a negative impact on Nepal’s economy.  The organization is confident and hopeful that during the visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister, there will be concrete discussions and agreement on the immediate operation of these two trade ports connected with China. Similarly, air services with China have been closed for a long time after the Corona pandemic.

Nepalese traders in different parts of China have also been badly affected by this. Nepal’s tourism sector has also been affected due to the closure of air traffic. We are hopeful that after this visit, China-Nepal air service will be re-open and an environment of smooth movement will be created between the people of the two countries. China is not only a good and reliable neighbor of Nepal but also our development partner. As Nepal is a member country of the BRI project, we are hopeful that during the visit of the Heads of Government and Heads of State of both the countries, discussions will be held for the practical implementation of the development projects under the BRI project. According to the statement visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister will further strengthen the ties between Nepal and China.  NCCFA has suggested to Nepal government and china for serious discussions on issues of common interest and interest of both the countries. The organization has also been conveying the best wishes the Chinese Foreign Minister a successful visit to Nepal.
