The Visit Nepal 2020 campaign has been launched in Australia.
The campaign was launched amid a programme in Sydney attended by tourism minister Yogesh Bhattarai and Speaker of the New South Wales parliament Speaker Johnathan O’Dea. The duo jointly launched the campaign at the event organised at Circular Cube in Sydney.
Hundreds of Nepalis clad in their traditional attire had come to Circular Cube to attend the event. According to Online Khabar the participants also raised funds for the relief of people affected by the bush fires in Australia. Minister Bhattarai also expressed his grief over the tragic events in Australia.
Following the end of the formal programme, Minister Bhattarai and the participants of the event visited the Opera House carrying Nepali and Aussie flags. When around 200 people reached the gates of the Opera House, they were stopped by police. “We did not have a rally planned, the participants were going to the Opera House when police asked them to stop. The police did not ask us to stop the event,” said Minister Bhattarai.
