Five Initiatives to promote tourism in Hunan, China

Kathmandu|2020-02-20 Thursday

At present, the Chinese government is proactively taking strong actions to prevent and counteract the situation. Positive results have been achieved with pleasing changes emerging. Enterprises across Hunan are also gradually returning to the right track. We sincerely hope that our partners can join us to strengthen strategic cooperation and push forward the implementation of the strategy of promoting each other as destinations, to increase exchange visits and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results. To realize this, we would like to propose the following five initiatives. We really hope that consensus will be reached, and a new era of culture and tourism cooperation started.

First, set up a communication and liaison mechanism for carrying out the strategy of promoting each other as destinations.

Trade associations of both parties could take the lead and select the liaison personnel to keep closer communications between associations, and propel member enterprises of both sides to establish contacts for destination promotion for each other. At present, the two sides could exchange information about our markets and the coronavirus situation, as well as sending greeting emails or videos to cheer the Hunan counterparts on. Also, we should support each other in handling issues like canceling group trips or refunding, in accordance with the law. And we should proactively take measures to save ourselves from the recent difficulties, help the market back to order and allow our enterprises to prosper again.

Second, sign a memorandum of cooperation in promoting each other as destinations based on mutual consultation.

We could encourage member enterprises on both sides to promote and market the cultural and tourist resources for each other using their own platforms. After the markets recover, travel agencies could invite their counterparts to conduct field research and develop new tourist products together, as well as to participate in promotional activities. In this way, we will be able to complement each other in terms of tourism resources, promote products reciprocally, exchange customers, share information, bridge direct flights in between and promote meaningful interactions, further advancing the development of new tourist products and routes, targeted marketing, honest business operations and quality services.

Third, carry out online promotion of each other as destinations among partners.

We could exchange text, photos, audio, videos and other marketing materials to put on the websites and other promotion platforms of counterpart associations or enterprises for marketing. At present, we should pay special attention to the publication of letters of consolation, letters of thanks and greeting videos. We warmly welcome and encourage overseas Chinese TV channels and online platforms that are influential among overseas Chinese to air refined Hunan cultural and art programs. We also actively encourage relevant associations in your countries and regions to organize donation activities for overseas Chinese, and use the funds raised to purchase medical supplies to support Hunan province in fighting the virus.

Fourth, hold online workshops for counterparts.

We could invite relevant experts to plan and carry out online training for staff of member enterprises, improving their skills and strengthening capacity building.

Fifth, pay tribute to all “Angels in White” by offering free entry tickets.

Trade associations on the both sides could consult with local tourist attractions and actively put such proposals into practice that from the day when the tourist spots return to business to the end of 2020, all medical staff who contribute to defeating the virus will enjoy free entry. In this way, we would like to pay tribute to all “Angels in White” and express our gratitude for their efforts and benevolence.
